AFC Bournemouth vs Boreham Wood will face Everton in the fifth round

Tomorrow evening, Wood’s first ever appearance in the FA Cup Fourth Round awaits as we head to the South Coast to take on Championship highflyers AFC Bournemouth.

The Cherries sit just a point behind Blackburn Rovers in third, enjoying a promising Championship campaign after falling short of promotion last season, reaching the Fourth Round of FA Cup after a 3-1 victory over Yeovil Town in the last round.

Wood’s historic win over AFC Wimbledon saw them get beyond the Third Round for the first time in the Club’s history, and they have remained consistent since then with three wins and a draw in the league to close the gap on first place to just two points with two games in hand.

CHERRIES now know their potential opponents in the fifth round if they manage to beat Boreham Wood later today, with the south coast side drawn away to Premier League strugglers Everton.

Everton have beaten Cherries in their previous two FA Cup encounters, with the biggest winning margin for the Toffees a 5-0 rout back in the third round of the 1936/37 FA Cup. The side met in the fifth round in 2016, with Everton running out 2-0 winners at the Vitality Stadium.

All focus will have to be on avoiding a ‘cupset’ against Boreham Wood – the only remaining non-league side in the competition. Cherries reached the quarter-final stage last year, and will fancy their chances if they do advance to the fifth round. Fifth round ties are slated to be played during the week commencing Monday, February 28, with games likely to be played Tuesday, March 1, or Wednesday, March 2. Winning sides will receive £180,000 from the competition prize pool. FA Cup draw in full:

  • Luton Town vs Chelsea

  • Crystal Palace vs Stoke City

  • Peterborough vs Man City

  • Liverpool or Cardiff vs Norwich City

  • Southampton vs West Ham

  • Middlesbrough vs Tottenham

  • Nottingham Forest or Leicester vs Huddersfield

  • Everton vs Bournemouth or Boreham Wood
